Vikram will discuss his career journey from the time he graduated from Kellogg through his nine years with Horizon Therapeutics. Vikram joined Horizon at a pivotal point and was instrumental in building a novel rare disease company that both developed drugs domestically and commercialized them internationally. Vikram Karnani is executive vice president, Global Commercial Operations and Medical Affairs at Amgen, leading the U.S. Rare Disease Business Unit. In this role, Karnani oversees the full rare disease portfolio, ensuring all patients – regardless of population size – get the therapies and support they need. He joined Amgen from the Horizon acquisition in October 2023 where he led the U.S. and international commercial organizations, as well as global medical affairs, for Horizon. After joining Horizon in 2014, he held several leadership positions spanning across nearly every area of Horizon’s business and portfolio. Before joining Horizon, Karnani was with Fresenius Kabi, a global health care company that specializes in lifesaving medicines and technologies for infusion, transfusion and clinical nutrition, where he served as vice president of the therapeutics and cell therapy business, with a focus on sales, marketing and clinical implementation. He has more than 20 years of cross-functional expertise in a multitude of industries, including medical devices, management consulting, semiconductors and cellular telecommunications. Karnani received a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, a master's degree in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from University of Bombay, India.
