Join Craig Garthwaite, director of the Healthcare at Kellogg program, Thomas Civik, '05 MBA, chairman of the board for Repare Therapeutics and ImCheck Therapeutics, and your fellow healthcare alumni for an evening of discussion and networking. Professor Garthwaite and Mr. Civik will discuss building value in the biopharmaceautical industry, focusing on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by large corporations and small firms. The event will include refreshments and drinks and time for networking and conversation. Thomas Civik, '80 MBA, Chairman of the Board, Repare Therapeutics, Chairman of the Board, ImCheck Therapeutics, Board Member, Pyxis Oncology
Mr. Civik's most recent corporate position was as CEO and President of Five Prime Therapeutics, where he oversaw the clinical development of the company's oncology pipeline and the acquisition by Amgen in 2021. Prior to his leadership of Five Prime Therapeutics, he was the chief commercial officer at Foundation Medicine and led the launch of the first-ever FDA-approved pan-cancer comprehensive genomic test. Tom had a distinguished 17 year career at Genentech. As vice president and franchise head, he led the commercialization efforts for several leading oncology products generating more than $3 billion in revenue. He began his tenure at Genentech in the managed care area and held senior leadership positions focues on providing access for the entire Genentech portfolio.
Prior to Genentech, Civik spent eight years at Sanofi in increasingly complex sales, sales management, and account management roles. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Craig Garthwaite, Professor of Strategy, Director of Healthcare at Kellogg
Professor Garthwaite is the Herman R. Smith Research Professor in Hospital and Health Services, a professor of strategy, and the director of the Healthcare Program. He is an applied economist whose research examines the busines of healthcare with a focus on the interaction between private firms and public policies.
